MJF REACH FINAL FOR CIPD AWARDS 2013

MJF are delighted to announce that we have been successful in reaching the finals for the CIPD Awards 2013.

Our potentially award-winning HR Initiative is very much an on-going project which started with a real focus in June 2012.

MJF Facilities Management have always recognised that our staff have been a vital 'cog in the wheel' in the success we have gained so far and we decided that if we want to achieve and exceed further anticipated growth over the next five years, staff will not only be key but the workforce in turn will grow both through internal progression and volume.

For this reason, MJF wanted to invest in specialised HR staff who would introduce and manage a number of HR initiatives to support the company's growth plans, with a clear focus on its workforce. In doing so, we want to show we are investing time and effort in our workforce, that we care for our workforce and we reward and recognise them and the work they do.

At MJF Facilities Management, we want to become 'the employer of choice' and set ourselves apart from our competitors in the industry through the efforts we make to support, nurture and develop our staff.

MJF started by introducing a number of small scale initiatives, introducing probations and appraisals so staff have an opportunity to sit down with their line manager and review their performance, their role and identify any opportunity for training or courses they might want to do.

As the nature of the business entails staff working at client premises, communication to staff is vital to improve the company's culture and ethos of working together as team. Therefore, we also introduced a quarterly staff newsletter in order to improve communication initiatives to staff.

In addition, MJF are looking at offering the opportunity for staff to work towards qualifications in Cleaning and Support Services and we are also reviewing the recruitment, selection and induction process. MJF also have plans to review and consider other ways of rewarding staff through incentives and awards - this has recently started with the introduction of an Employee Appreciation Award Scheme.

Ultimate aims of our HR initiative include:

  • Introduce and implement probations and appraisals for staff
  • To improve communications throughout the company
  • To introduce and widen training and learning opportunities for staff
  • To review and improve recruitment and selection methods
  • To establish effective ways to reward our staff through monetary and non-monetary measures

So, our carefully planned and implement HR initiative has fantastically resulted in MJF being chosen for the HR Initiative of the Year category and now will be preparing our case further in readiness for judging day in London in two weeks’ time - wish us luck!
